The UA Crit is right around the corner (2/2/2013)! And we want to welcome you to our new venue at the UA BioPark (southwest of 36th and Kino Parkway)! We have been overwhelmed by the support from the community for our event- this is truly a well-loved event and we are pleased it was able to continue at a new home! We hope you'll join us- either on the bike or on the sidelines- on Saturday!
If you are interested in racing, head on over to the UACrit page on this site or go to:

Buying your USA Cycling License
So, how do you get said awesome USAC license? I don't like reinventing the wheel and this club does an excellent job describing the differences:
https://sites.google.com/site/shipcycling/home/tutorials/licensing
Just sub in University of Arizona where ever they talk about Shipenburg.
Step by step:
1.) Go to usacycling.org, click sign in
2.) Fill out the info on the left side name, d.o.b, hit continue
3.) It'll ask for some more info, an e-mail, username, pass, etc.
4.) Then you sign in with your newly created account. yay!
5.) License time! Click the license button, then purchase new license
6.) Select either collegiate (just remember you can ONLY race collegiate then...so this is not recommended) or select Road Primary and then collegiate as an add-on (its free)
7.) Say yes to the waivers
8.) Select University of Arizona for your clubs (unless you have a different club you will ride for in non-collegiate events)
9.) pay
10.) done! Your license will arrive in about a week or so. In the mean time on the homepage you can print an "Authorization to Ride" which shows you can race your bike. You can also pull this up on a smartphone (USA cycling has an app too).
Any questions or problems, let me know and I'll do the best I can to help.

Big News and Important Updates
OFFICERS
President - Ben Elias
Vice-President (in a British Parliamentary sort of way) - Russ Edge
Race Coordinator - Joey Iuliano, joining us from Purdue
Treasurer - Danny Pagano (also assisting in the kit redesign)
SPECIALIZED ORDER
As of this afternoon, I have paid for the order received by Chris Ramsey at Fairwheel. If you were in this order, I have your stuff but if you ordered a bike it will still be at Fairwheel and bikes need to paid for directly to Fairwheel, it will be under your name. If you haven't received your stuff, email me, call me, I want you to have your gear. You need to pay me preferably by cash or check.
PACTIMO GEAR
For those who ordered kits and have not received them, contact me. If you didn't order a kit, we still have extras and they are for sale. $60 for a jersey, $70 for bibs. We also have a limited number of higher quality Women's Summit line bibs. Let me know if you are interested in those as well.
MALL EVENT!!!!!
We have secured permits to be on the mall to recruit new members for our club. We will be on the mall Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week leading to our first meeting on Thursday. Every one of those days I will be setting up a tent, table, info and a trainer for the club to use. We will plan on being out there from 9am to around 3pm. For Tues/Wed, we will have to be out on the Alumni Plaza in front of the Admin building but on Thursday we have prime placement right in front of the Student Union. I will also bring our kits so members can buy them if they want. I can also bring the Specialized Order so those who need to pick up their stuff can. Let me know if you can help volunteer or bring a trainer. Although it is still cold out, come out, bring your bike and spin to keep warm, answer questions for new members and help recruit to build a bigger, better, more active cycling club!
FIRST MEETING
Our first meeting of the semester will be a more formal meeting in a conference room at Campus Rec. We want to welcome new members and give the scoop on upcoming events. Following meetings will most likely be held at a campus eatery such as No Anchovies and will be more informal but it will be a great opportunity to hang out and stay connected with the club. The first meeting will be held in the North Conference Room on the 2nd floor of the Rec Center at 4pm on Thursday, Jan 17. If you don't know where this is go to the Rec website and look at the floor plan.
TRAINING AND RACING
Next weekend is the first collegiate road race of the season up at ASU with the UA Crit following the next week on Feb 2nd. Our new course is at the UA Biopark. For those interested in racing, please come to the tent on the mall, the meeting on Thursday or email me or Joey to get more details. Please stay updated with the facebook page, that is where we post most of our rides. This last week we had a great introduction to the cornering skills you need to know for crit races out at the UA Biopark course where the UA Crit is this year. Here is the event page by the way: http://www.facebook.com/ events/509834992389887/
Any additional questions? Feel free to email or call. Thanks.

21 March 2011 Meeting Minutes
First off, I hope everyone had a great Spring Break (filled with lots of riding I hope!).
A few things:
Albuquerque Race
The Lobo Classic is this weekend. The road race is on Saturday and the crit is on Sunday. Cedric has sent out a spreadsheet that requires those who are interested in racing to fill it out. If you are interested in Nationals it would be a good thing to make sure you are attending this race. If you have questions about qualifying for Nationals, Ben or Erin are great people to ask.
Oro Valley Ironkids
We are looking for 15 volunteers for the Ironkids race held up in OroValley. If we can get 15 volunteers, Ironkids will donate money to a charity of our choice. The race is on April 9th and their is packet pick up the 8th.This is a great opportunity! The event is well run and a lot of fun for not only you, but for the kids too! If you are interested contact either Maddie or Ben!
Bike Swap
Bike swap this year is April 17th. So mark your calendars and UACycling plans on having a table out on 4th. We are looking for donations of bike parts or miscellaneous bike stuff. If you have anything to donate, bring it to our next meeting and we will begin a collection for the GABA bike swap. If you have any questions just shoot Ben an e-mail.

Bike to Work Day
Bike to Work Week is the week of April 4th this year. UACycling has always had a prescence on the Mall for a Bike Fix-It / Bake Sale. This year is no different. We will be on the Mall Wednesday, April 6th. We will be looking for Volunteers and Baked Goods. So if you can help with either, let Maddie know!

UA Crit p/b UMC
Hello everyone!
Our race is this weekend, February 26th.
If you would like more information about the race here is the race bible: http://uacycling.com/2011Bible.pdf
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
Registration help - Good for those with organizational and customer service skills :) You are running the pre-race check in process, receiving payments, and preparing the starts lists. One volunteer will be in charge of organizing prizes, and posting results post-races. We need 5-3 volunteers at the registration table starting as early as 5:45am.
Course Marshals - Your primary job is to keep pedestrians, bicyclists, spectators, and motor vehicles off the course. While we will have 2 UAPD officers on site and 3 PTS enforcement staff to aid in keeping the course closed (along with barricades and signs), it's still important that we are out there. Each course marshal station will have a chair, radio, and safety vest. You will need to use the radio if there's a crash on your corner to alert the EMT on site. We need up to 9 volunteers working as course marshals from 7:00am-5:00pm.
Announcers - We have a PA and sound system thanks to Guitars, Etc that needs to be put to use. If you're comfortable announcing races (or would like to give it a try), please help us out in this area.
Race Set-up - For those of you who enjoy your early mornings...please help sweep corners and set-up before the race. We probably need 2 volunteers to help with this from 5:00am-7:00am.
Race Tear-down - There has usually been plenty of people around to help--so I'm banking on that again this year. Thanks everyone for the help last year!

Meeting Minutes 14th of Feb.
Hey everyone!
ASU cycling crit is this weekend! We have Cedric coordinating how we are getting up there and if you have paid the race team, Cedric will register you. He will be creating a google doc spreadsheet to organize who is going, and what is going to happen this weekend.
UofA crit is the weekend after ASU. Please watch your e-mails for volunteer schedules/meeting/ect. We will be paying your entry fee in exchange for volunteer hours. So again, keep your eyes/ears on the lookout for e-mails with more detail for this.
If you raced last weekend, you will be comped at the next meeting. We will be covering your race entry fee if you have paid the race team membership. You will only be reimbursed the fee of the race, if you have a late fee that will be covered by you.
Finally our next meeting will be February 28th in the Northern Conference Room at 6.30pm. Hope to see you all there!!
