2010 UA Cycling Clothing Order!

It's that time when you can order a 2010 UA Cycling kit! This year, all orders will be placed online through Voler which makes it really easy to get what you want. You can fully customize your order down to your zipper style.

If you're interested, please send me an e-mail through the 'contact' form on this website and I'll send you a link to the order with pricing information.

The jersey design will be consistent with the past few years. Click on the 'Media' page if you don't know the design I'm talking about.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You have until November 22nd, 12:00am to place your order!

Thanks,

Fall '09: What's Happening?

It's the time of Fall where midterms, bike racing, class projects, and pig flu, have finally come to pass (for me anyway). Those are my excuses for not keeping this website updated as often as it should. Especially, since the club has some exciting news! Here's the summary:
  • UA Cycling takes home the 2009 MTB SWCCC Conference Title. Our club had it's largest turnout at a mountain bike race since (ever possibly). With 16 racers, we took 3 category wins, and qualified our team to race at Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals in Truckee, CA.
  • Chloe Forsman wins D1 cross-country Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals & Kevin Clegg rides to a 10th place in the men's D1 race with a broken finger! In her last collegiate mountain bike nationals, Chloe unseated the reigning XC champion, Carla Swart, to add to her XC titles from 2006 & 2007. Matthew Jones and Michael Sencenbaugh rounded out the UA nationals team.
  • Clif Bar sponsors UA Cycling. This means that UA Cycling members will have access to all the wonderful, nutritious, organic goodies that Clif Bar makes.
  • Specialized sponsors UA Cycling. That's right, UA Cycling now has a bike sponsor.
  • Planning begins for the 2010 UA Criterium. The race will be the 4th running of the UA Criterium. The race course is one of the best in Arizona and takes place in the heart of central Tucson on the U of A campus. The club will begin a search for event sponsors soon.
Thanks for checking in!

Week of Sept 14th

There will be lots happening on campus this week with the UA Cycling Club.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 15th (9am-12pm): We'll be out at the Bike Station with Parking & Transportation Services helping out students with their bikes.
  • Thursday, Sept. 17th (7pm-8pm, Campus Rec Center): A guestspeaker will talk about defensive biking skills, group riding etiquette, and your rights and responsibilities as a bicycling road user. There will be snacks and time for questions. You will need a CatCard for entry into the Rec Center unless you send me a note with your name using the 'contact' page of this website.
  • Friday, Sept. 18th (9am-5pm): Park(ing) Day Bike Fix-It. Volunteers needed! The club will be 'adopting' a parking spot along University Ave. and use the space to provide the local community with basic bike maintenence services for free.

First Race Weekend Coming Up!

Next weekend is the first race weekend of the '09 Collegiate MTB Season. Everybody is welcome to come and race and enjoy some camping Saturday night. It'd also be great to have someone come along who's not racing to help with feeds. From what I've heard, I expect about 8 people to go, but more would be great. We're going to try and leave Saturday with enough time to pre-ride the course, camp, and race Sunday morning. A car could also leave later if some people are working Saturday. Here's a little information about the event, cost, camping, licenses, and carpools.
If you want to go, or are thinking about it, please e-mail me your name (first and last). Thanks,

Chloe

Labor Day Ride

Let's meet at 6:30 Monday at the flagpole for an easy getting to know you ride. We did this last year and it was a great way to integrate the new Cycling Club members. I know you all come from a great deal of different experience levels (road and mountain), so we'll ride at an easy pace (no getting separated, no running stop signs or stoplights, etc). The route:

1) Ride W of campus on University, end up on St Mary's;
2) Turn S on Grande, take Mission and turn W on Ajo;
3) Turn S off of Ajo and proceed to either Irvington or Valencia;
4) Turn N on Mission, ride back to campus;
6) End up at Cafe Paraiso for coffee, etc.

Come meet a few cycling club members on Monday, August 24th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Student Rec Center. We will have a table set up among all the other sports clubs in the North gymnasium. Keep your eyes open for some U of A cycling jerseys (but please don't mistake us for the Tricats!).

Welcome back!
