Bike 2 UA Day

Here's a few pictures to sum up Bike 2 UA Day.  The Cycling Club would like to thank Trek Bicycles of Tucson, City of Tucson Transportation Department, and UA Parking & Transportation for putting on such a fun event.   And thanks to Clif Bar for the Clif Bars (and Shot Bloks too!).

Club members probably lubed 50 squeaky chains, installed 100 Incredibell's (a Bike Fest giveaway), fixed 5 flats, adjusted many brakes, cables, and fed many pounds of food to hungry campus bike users.

TDOT on the left (Clif Bars, Commuter Challenge Registration, Tucson Bike Maps, Share the Road Guides).  UA Parking & Transportation on the right (Free bicycle registration and Campus Bike Maps).

UA Cycling Club tent with bagels, croissants, cookies, iced tea, and free labor for bike adjustments.

Neil's bike rack getting lots of use.

Kate, David, and Alex enjoying the calm before...

 that 10 minutes between classes.

The entire setup.

Free lunch is provided. If you want to race, you still can, no problem. As of now, it looks like we are thinnest from 2pm-6pm. It's time for a meeting.

When: 3/12/09, 6:00 p.m.
Where: Rec Center, North Conference Room
What: XOOD is a local Tucson business and the sponsor of our UA Criterium.  They will be at our meeting to talk about their company and hand out some samples.  Show them some support and come to the meeting tomorrow.

XOOD: NATURAL HEALTHY ENDURANCE DRINK

What else: We will also discuss some logistics for the Hillsboro race weekend.

ASU Crit - February 22, 2009

So the UA Cycling Team continues to dominate the "A" catagories in the SWCCC.  We occupied the top-6 spots in the Men's A race and the top-4 spots in the Women's A race.  You can look at the results here to get an idea of the competition we were up against in those categories.

Niko Skievaski (ASU) won the Men's B event and Terrin Lane (ASU) won the Women's B event. Cedric Bosch was the first UA racer in the Men's B event in third.  Kate Van Roeckel and Kim Truitt both started the Women's B race for the UA but were forced to abandom due to an early crash.

Altogether, we had 18 racers representing the UA.  Everybody raced in the Collegiate races and most racers doubled-up for their category races as well.

What a great start to the race season.  Next up we've got the Hillsboro Omnium, the SWCCC Road Race Championships.  UA Cycling is out to defend our SWCCC title!
