ASU Crit - February 22, 2009

So the UA Cycling Team continues to dominate the "A" catagories in the SWCCC.  We occupied the top-6 spots in the Men's A race and the top-4 spots in the Women's A race.  You can look at the results here to get an idea of the competition we were up against in those categories.

Niko Skievaski (ASU) won the Men's B event and Terrin Lane (ASU) won the Women's B event. Cedric Bosch was the first UA racer in the Men's B event in third.  Kate Van Roeckel and Kim Truitt both started the Women's B race for the UA but were forced to abandom due to an early crash.

Altogether, we had 18 racers representing the UA.  Everybody raced in the Collegiate races and most racers doubled-up for their category races as well.

What a great start to the race season.  Next up we've got the Hillsboro Omnium, the SWCCC Road Race Championships.  UA Cycling is out to defend our SWCCC title!

Peace,

Support UA Cycling at the JW Marriot Resort & Spa

The cycling club is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a night for two at the JW Marriot Spa & Golf Resort in Tucson. The package includes greens fees for two. If golf isn't your thing, the JW Marriot also boasts trail access to some of Tucson's best mountain biking. All proceeds from the ticket sales will directly benefit the cycling club.

The tickets can be purchased by check or cash by using the "Contact" page of this website. Or, pay with a credit card via Paypal through www.uacyclingraffle.blogspot.com. That's also the website with all the nitty-gritty details of the raffle.

Bottom line, $10 gets you a raffle ticket and a warm fuzzy feeling that you've contributed to something great. The UA Cycling club sends a huge thanks to the JW Marriot Spa & Golf Resort for their generous donation and to the rest of our sponsors.

Now we thank you.

Same place as last time, on the second floor of the Student Rec Center.  If you don't have a Cat Card, please send me an e-mail (via "Contact" page of website) with your complete name so I can get you access to the Rec.   Please do so by Wednesday, Jan 28th.

Ride with UA Cycling on MLK

The UA Cycling Club will be hosting a ride at 10am on MLK Day (Jan. 19th). Please meet the club at the Flagpole just west of Old Main on campus. Plan on riding between 12 and 20 miles. This is a no-drop ride, so we won't leave anyone behind. Unless you're Andy and you start the ride on a flat tire...

The ride will be slow and all beginners are welcomed and encouraged. Depending on the size of the group, we may choose to break the ride up a bit. Helmets are required and please bring a spare inner tube.

See you tomorrow!

First UA Cycling Club Meeting.

Please consider joining the UA Cycling club for the first meeting of 2009.  Here's the important info:

Where: The Student Rec Center, in the PACR.  It's upstairs and straight ahead on your right.  Please, don't forget your CatCard.  If you do, or you simply don't have one, let the fronk desk people know you're there for a cycling club meeting and hopefully they'll let you upstairs.

When: 6:00pm; Thursday Jan 15th!

What to bring: If you'd like to become a member, a checkbook.  Our dues are just $35/year and you'll find out about all the cool perks tomorrow (at the meeting).

If you can't make it: Join the listserv on this website under the "Contact" page.  Then you'll learn a thing or two about the club from our meeting notes.

We have a little bit of free stuff to give away so don't miss out!

Bike Fix-It Day #2

The UA Cycling Club will set up shop on the campus mall, once again, to spread some good will among the students and faculty pedaling around campus.  The club will be fixing bikes from 10am - 2pm on Wednesday, Jan 14th--that's the FIRST DAY OF CLASS

We can do minor adjustments and safety checks.  We'd be happy to lube chains and fill up your tires if they're running low on air.  Spread the word!
